PRESCOTT--The Cardinal Time Fifth Grade Extension Students at Malone Elementary School in Prescott do a program entitled "Mystery Disease."

This is a problem-based learning unit which is specifically designed for student-centered learning of new and meaningful content. It forces students to work with a complex and changing problem, requiring higher-level thinking skills, in an environment where students work both individually and in collaboration with others.

Students presented their findings on a simulated e-coli outbreak to family and friends on Jan. 13. Students’ findings were judged by three nurses, Marie Magnun, Janet Cleary and Jen Hudak.

Organizers are proud of all of the students' efforts!
